ReadShetland Aero submits Planning Application for single wind turbine - replacing two already consented turbines - and explores payments to reduce fuel poverty.
Local energy company Shetland Aerogenerators Ltd has submitted a planning application to the Shetland Islands Council. Shetland Aerogenerators is also exploring routing community benefit payments from the development into schemes such as Hjaltland Housing Association’s existing Fuel Vouchers scheme, which will help some people experiencing fuel poverty to pay their energy bills.

ReadOur Story
Formed in 1992, Shetland Aerogenerators operates from our office in Lerwick. As the owners of Burradale windfarm, we have acted as developer, constructor, operator and client at various stages of the project.
We were initially established to investigate new opportunities in wind power after the Government announced the Scottish Renewables Obligation.
Now we undertake selective development of our own wind energy projects and we support the concept of large scale wind energy advancement in Shetland.
