Lauren Anderson wins Personal Improvement Award

Shetland Aerogenerators is delighted to share that Project Manager Lauren Anderson has been awarded the Personal Improvement Award at this year's Scottish Renewables Young Professionals Green Energy Awards.

Lauren was one of four young professionals shortlisted for the award and impressed the judges with her attitude, which they described as “going ‘above and beyond’ to develop herself and enhance her contribution to the business”.

Lauren said: “I am very proud to be recognised with this award. My journey to this point has been a bit different, I left school with barely any qualifications, but I have worked hard and continued to develop myself throughout my career. I took time out to do a degree in my mid-20s, completed a professional qualification in project management and I’m currently studying a wind energy developer course.

“I am really grateful for the support of my friends and family and to David Thomson, our Chief Executive, for bringing me to Shetland Aerogenerators and continuing to support my progress.”

More than 350 professionals from across the sector came together in Glasgow at the 10th annual event organised by national body Scottish Renewables to celebrate those who have achieved beyond all expectations, those who are pioneering new ideas and those who have the drive and ambition to change the industry for the better.

The Personal Improvement Award, sponsored by ECO Hire recognises young professionals who have shown particular commitment to personal development.

David Thomson, Shetland Aerogenerators Chief Executive said: “It’s been a real pleasure watching Lauren grow as a person and as a professional over the last couple of years. Lauren originally joined us as a Graduate Placement, so she’s a great example of our company’s commitment to supporting our employees to develop in their roles.

“Scottish Renewables and all the sponsors put on a great event. It was notable that there were several mentions of Shetland in the nominations, such as Emma McGregor at Tony Gee & Partners who got the Engineer Award for her work related to the Viking Energy Wind Farm.  This demonstrates how central our islands are to Scotland’s transition to net zero and what a great place this is to develop a career in the renewable energy sector.”

Lauren was joined at the dinner on 18 April 2024 by a delegation of her colleagues and family. Everyone at Shetland Aerogenerators is very proud of her and delighted that her achievements have been recognised with such a prestigious award.
