Mirrie Dancers

Our Luggie's Knowe wind turbine site outside Lerwick regularly picks up the Northern Lights (known locally as the Mirrie Dancers) in the night vision of our CCTV.  A good shot from January 2021.

Luggie was a supposed wizard, possibly a version of Loki, from old Shetland tales who could catch fish (some say ready boiled) from this spot through a hole in the rock. Then some Scalloway folk burned him at the stake.

Knowe means hillock or knoll.
